Trusted by Accounting and Finance Teams.
Tableau has no native connector for Sage Intacct, Sage 50, or Sage 200. The ODBC approach queries live Sage data at every Tableau refresh, adds driver configuration complexity, and breaks scheduled cloud refresh.
SyncTools pre-syncs Sage data into a SQL database you own. Tableau reads via SQL — no ODBC driver to configure, no live Sage queries at refresh time.
Why the Direct Sage Tableau Path Is Harder Than It Looks
Sage products — Intacct, Sage 50, Sage 200 — expose their data through a combination of native APIs, ODBC drivers, and reporting exports. None of these map cleanly to a Tableau connector. Tableau does not ship Sage support in its connector marketplace, and Sage has not published a certified Tableau connector.
The ODBC path has operational problems. Sage 50 and Sage 200 expose ODBC access to their underlying database, which Tableau can query. In practice, this creates problems: the ODBC driver must be installed and configured on every machine running Tableau Desktop; Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud require a bridge or gateway to reach on-premises ODBC drivers; and every Tableau refresh queries the live Sage database, adding load to the accounting system. Large datasets or frequent refresh schedules amplify all of these problems.
The CSV export path doesn't scale. Many teams start by exporting Sage reports to spreadsheets and importing to Tableau. This works for one-off analysis but fails as a live reporting workflow — every dashboard refresh requires a manual export cycle, and multi-entity setups multiply the manual work.
Sage Intacct's API is not directly reachable from Tableau. Sage Intacct has a well-structured REST API, but Tableau cannot connect to it natively. Building a custom Tableau Web Data Connector for Intacct requires developer expertise, token management, and pagination handling — not a self-service finance team task.
SyncTools resolves all of these problems. It syncs your Sage data into a standard SQL database on a configurable schedule. Tableau connects to that database using its native SQL connector — no ODBC driver, no gateway, no manual exports, no developer involvement for every refresh.
How to Connect Sage to Tableau with SyncTools
Three steps. No ODBC configuration. No CSV exports. No developer involvement.
Connect Sage to SyncTools
Authorize SyncTools to access your Sage account. SyncTools pulls your financial data through the Sage API on a configurable schedule. Select the entities to sync: Invoices, Bills, Customers, Vendors, Journal Entries, Chart of Accounts, and more.
Choose your destination database
Bring your own PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Azure SQL instance — or use the SyncTools-hosted database for zero infrastructure setup. SyncTools creates and manages the schema, and runs the initial historical sync automatically.
Connect Tableau to the database
In Tableau Desktop, use Connect → To a Server → select your database type. Enter credentials, select the Sage tables you need, and build your dashboards. Publish to Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud for automatic scheduled refresh.

Sync Sage to the Database You Already Use
Most alternatives lock you into their proprietary data warehouse. SyncTools syncs to the database you already run, or gives you a hosted option if you don't have one.
Key differentiator: SyncTools writes to a standard SQL database — any tool that speaks SQL works immediately, with no vendor-specific query language to learn.
PostgreSQL
Most popular open-source DB
Fully supported. Ideal for teams already running Postgres in AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, or on-premises. SyncTools creates and manages the schema.
MySQL / MariaDB
Common in existing infrastructure
Supported natively. If your stack already runs MySQL, common in hosting environments and ecommerce backends, SyncTools writes directly into it.
SQL Server
Enterprise environments, Power BI's native source
Sync Sage to SQL Server and connect Power BI using its built-in SQL Server connector. No ODBC setup. No custom connector required.
Azure SQL
Cloud-first Microsoft stack
For organizations already on Azure. Sync Sage to Azure SQL and connect Power BI Service using the managed SQL connector, no gateway required for cloud-hosted databases.
SyncTools-Hosted Database
No infrastructure to manage. SyncTools provisions a dedicated database for your account and keeps it running. For teams that want zero DevOps overhead.

Why Database Sync Beats ODBC for Sage Tableau Reporting
Pre-syncing Sage data to a database — instead of querying live via ODBC — is how enterprise BI teams keep dashboards fast, reliable, and low-maintenance.
No ODBC overhead
No ODBC driver to install and configure on every Tableau Desktop machine. No gateway or bridge to maintain for Tableau Server/Cloud access to on-premises Sage data. Tableau connects to a standard SQL database using its built-in connector.
Performance
Tableau queries a cloud SQL database, not a live Sage system. No load on your accounting software during dashboard refresh. Reports open in seconds regardless of how many transactions or periods your Sage account contains.
Flexibility
Once Sage data is in a database, any BI tool can read it — Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, Looker, or custom SQL. Switch tools without re-syncing. Run multiple BI tools simultaneously against the same data.
One-way sync guarantee: SyncTools reads data from Sage and writes to your database. It never writes back to Sage — your accounting records are never at risk.
SyncTools also supports QuickBooks Online, Xero, MYOB, NetSuite, Dynamics 365 Business Central, and Zoho Books. See the QuickBooks Tableau Connector, Xero Tableau Connector, MYOB Tableau Connector, NetSuite Tableau Connector, Dynamics 365 Tableau Connector, and Zoho Books Tableau Connector pages. If you also use Power BI, see the Sage Power BI Connector page or the step-by-step Sage Power BI Connector setup guide.
Flat $50/Month. Unlimited Rows.
No per-seat pricing. No row-volume overages. Your price doesn't change whether you have 1,000 invoices or 1,000,000.
