How to Connect Shopify to Sage in 5 Steps
Connecting Shopify to Sage with SyncTools takes under 20 minutes and requires no developer access.
Step 1 — Install SyncTools from the Shopify App Store Go to your Shopify admin > Apps > Shopify App Store, search for SyncTools, and install it. Approve the required permissions so SyncTools can read your Shopify orders, payouts, and transaction data.
Step 2 — Connect your Sage account In SyncTools, navigate to Accounting System and select Sage. Complete the Sage OAuth connection. SyncTools reads your chart of accounts, nominal codes, and tax codes.
Step 3 — Map Shopify transaction types to Sage accounts Assign each Shopify transaction type — gross sales, Shopify Payments fees, refunds, taxes, and Shopify payouts — to the correct Sage nominal code. SyncTools pre-fills a recommended mapping.
Step 4 — Choose your sync mode Select summarized sync (daily journal entries — ideal for high-volume Shopify stores) or individual sync (one Sage record per Shopify order — best for detailed reporting). Both modes reconcile to your bank deposit.
